Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Lastly there's Call to Arms, and it's major mod, Ostfront. Emphasizing on the FPS aspect. It's important to mention, Digitalmindsoft, now self-publishing, as I stated elsewhere, are pretty scummy, "bethesdising" that game with new editions over the last years. The game itself looks good, I haven't played those yet however.

Alienman told me it's good.

If you already own men of war assault squad 2, the Axis Stalingrad campaign in Sir Hinkel’s mod (available on the steam workshop) is a lot of fun.

Got any other single player mod recommendations?

There's nothing substantial here. Everything the devs are talking about just seems very run-of-the-mill and we've seen it all before. There's really nothing to be excited for if you already have COH1 & COH2. This new game only exists so they can milk the franchise for what it's worth. No doubt the most substantial changes since the previous title will be the way it's monetized :D

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with them doing this. But they're really just doing the bare minimum here. They aren't even trying to make the game appealing to existing COH players.

Italy is such a weird setting for a game.
Probably just gonna be a copy of the Normandy campaign.Recreating even a sliver of the actual campaign would be not very fun or interesting.

If they really wanted Italians, should have chosen the African campaigns.

Italy had some pretty intense urban fighting, so maybe they're going to be improving infantry combat in garrisoned buildings, that sort of thing? I haven't been following closely, but I know they've mentioned upgrades to building demolition, which could make a difference.

Anyways I'm just waiting to see how the Total War-ish campaign shakes up the CoH formula, this is actually the biggest selling point for the game and the future of the franchise.

There was something very nice in C&C Tiberian Sun, which I then saw for the first time, and I'v'e never seen since - the secondary/support missions which would make the next major campaign mission easier. I wish someone resurrected this concept.

One of the main reasons why I think Tiberian Sun has the best RTS campaign ever made. Also it had a ton of interesting missions. RA2 was originally supposed to have the campaign map but they removed it (not sure if the support missions would still be in).

I wonder who's idea at westwood was the TS campaign and what happened to the guy.

Considering how dead the genre is that is unlikely to change.

So, we'll have two separate campaigns. The dynamic one a la Dark Crusade and another, more traditional one like in the previous games. Even playing as germans. Seems like a pretty hefty game

Has my eyesight worsened or are the health bars tiny? I can barely make out any information under all those particle effects. I hope they improve visual clarity.

Yes, having a random Arabic woman running around in the desert is exactly what I look for when I want to play WW2 RTS games.

(Another waste of trailer)

Wow - it's like they listened to my feedback on the underwhelming Total War style campaign and gave us a traditional style campaign as well.

Confirmed factions are US, Brits, Wehrmacht and Afrika Korps. Not sure where the Italians fit into all this (probably to be sold as DLC down the track).

This looks like such trash compared to something like Gates of Hell: Ostfront (or even any of the previous COH games) . Sensory overload free to play MMO with abstracted zoomer style, all boxes checked on the garbage checklist.

Just saw a video, and you will be playing as Rommel in the campaign. But the presenter said that you won't be able to win - because of historical accuracy or some such. You will also get to follow a Jewish barber (?) and a 17-year-old girl. Yeah, the campaign is going to suck, and probably lecture you about the evils of the Germans and war in general.

Tried the SP demo - it was fairly decent and pretty much copies the SP format of the first two games, which is good as I was underwhelmed by the demo version of the larger-scale campaign they released a while back.

Some new features:

* Artillery/Anti-tank guns can now be towed around the map and are not rooted to one spot anymore.
* Troops can ride on tanks now.
* There are now different levels to terrain and shooting from an elevated height is advantageous.

Graphically it looked pretty good but obviously still needs some optimisation. I heard a few nice one-liners from my troops so the trademark humour is still there.

it will mostly be Germany vs. allies (US/British) in Italy, than it will be showcasing italian military I am guessing due to period in the war..like you said, if they wanted to showcase italian military they would go to Africa, the Med (for Navy) or even eastern/baltic front..
