Like why, what reason is there that you can't have the full lines on the screen like in Witcher 1? It's not like Geralt is the type of character to prattle on forever. What breaks the flow more than reading the full lines, is having to reload because he says something totally unexpected. Not everyone cares about that, but I do.

It was designed for consoles.

Witcher 1 had the full script line, but the script was poorly translated. CDPR had no funds to hire a decent translator, so the english lines say like a third of what the polish VOs say. I'm going to pretend it's different flavors of kurwa, ja pierdole and chuj.

Witcher 3 is just a Ubisoft game with more production values because potatoes are cheaper than french baguettes.

I read the books recently and he kinda does that. Geralt goes on long rants when he doesn't need to all the time. I guess they tried to adapt his personality more into the game.

I just finished my first playthrough of Witcher 3 today and agree with almost everything that has been said. Some notes:
1. Playing as Ciri is jarring and not clever. Kudos to CDPR for giving up and giving her one hits kills towards the end.
2. Random videos of "Geralts thoughts" felt amateurish and out of place (was the volume on all of these videos low for anyone?).
3. I never used oil and only made one bomb for a training quest. Also I could never complete the Cat spell for darkvision. I wonder if this stuff is in the game to appease the spectrum crafter kids.
4. The last act is stretched out as fuck with boring escort missions and stupid sidequest after sidequest. "Geralt thanks for the hour long quest for me toothpaste but I forgot me brush. Can ye be a good lad and fetch me the brush from me brother in Albequerque?"
5. Combat is awful and investigations are poor. It's like they tried to ape the Arkham Asylum games but forgot what made combat in those games flow (combo counters?)
6. Witcher 3 is why I stopped playing Metal Gear Solid and most AAA. Interactive movies that appeal to the MCU crowd. Forgive them father....
7. The illusion of choice sucks. I remember loving Witcher 1 and having to choose sides and having it affect the story. I feel like as much flack as the combat for W1 got, I still liked it better than 3. I think I even liked part 2 better than 3. Weird.
8. I'm glad it's over. I doubt I'll ever touch the DLC.
9. BTW, did you know Geralt hates portals?

Bro, you can't complain about combat and not know how to spell flak properly!!!

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I just finished the story. Didn't actually expect Ciri freezing to death and Geralt being torn to shreds by monsters at the end. Well, presumably.

Overall, the game was a bit better (story and quest wise) than at the beginning, playable enough. Still, I'd definitely not call it good, just okay for a storytard like me. Gameplay was crap all the way though.

11. A lone witcher is apparently better than a whole group of soldiers against a monster and acts smartass about it. Again, this makes no sense. While I get that a single soldier shouldn't be equal, 4 or 5 of them are still not a match for a monster, but a single witcher is?
Soldiers don't have superhuman strength, agility, endurance, reflexes and senses
They also can't use magic, they aren't immune to poison, they aren't fearless, they haven't trained since childhood to hunt, to fight and overall don't know jack shit about monsters

Siegfried can kill monsters as well as Geralt in-game

Witcher 3 is decent if you skip the vast majority of the side quests, ignore the open world activities, and just do contracts and the main quest and Hearts of Stone. I couldn't finish the game until I approached it that way. CDPR is truly terrible at open world design.
