I don't mind anything Italian, Spanish or Greek, but the thing is that I believe that most (note I'd said most!) people from south Europe will be offended by sexual scenes and themes rather than violence as the north Europeans do.
Obviously parents see the risks of sex (ie emotional problems, pregnancy, turning lezzie/homo etc) to their young'uns as greater than the risk that they'll suddenly turn into psychopaths. That's why it's a higher concern. Doesn't mean they think "VIOLENCE GOOD, SEX BAD"... it helps if you try to understand things in context.

That's not quite the problem. The problem is that the consequences are not often depicted for random, senseless sex in video games. It's easier to see how murder and mayhem can damage lives than STDs and unwanted pregnancies.Naked Ninja said:...sex is portrayed as positive, cool, fun, what everyone is doing etc etc.

America's STD infection rates according to the CDC.
It is estimated that 1.3 million people are living with HIV in North America and 760,000 in Western and Central Europe.
An estimated 1.7 million adults and children became infected with HIV during 2007. This brought the total number of people living with HIV/AIDS in the region to 22.5 million by the end of the year.
It is difficult to overstate the suffering that HIV has caused in South Africa. With statistics showing that almost one in five adults are infected,
P.S. The highest risk of HIV infection involves anal sex, with an infected top into an infected bottom. Just thought you should know.
You seem really defensive (and competitive) about STD statistics for some reason, and I know HIV isn't the only STD out there. I was simply providing some statistics from my country - I'm not trying to outdo anybody - and making a reference to the opinion that HIV was/is the gay plague.Naked Ninja said:blah...blah...blah...
Minor fix. I have that book, and I assume you're referring to the article, "Our Sexual Ethics" (please tell me if I'm off the mark). While he certainly makes some interesting claims, I believe he's a lot more astute about the consequences of such an outlook rather than the motives driving it, and that quite a few of his conclusions don't follow well. Worth reading to think about, at least.DarkSign said:If you want a great discussion as to why sex is seen as much worse than stealing or violence, read Bertrand Russell's "Why I am not a Christian (and other essays on religion and related subjects)."
