Obsidian's first pitch was Dark Alliance reskinned into a Star Wars game. :what: Glad that was rejected in favor of kotor 2.

I think this is not new information. Feargus mentioned it in an interview before.

Yeah:

I find it hard to believe Josh isn't going to finally be forced to contribute to a new AAA project, but maybe somebody else at Obsidian is making that Pillars of Eternity tactical RPG he used to mention. :P

finding new ways to rape milk the Pillars franchise probably gets you a bonus. Feargus must be going down a list checking boxes at this point

Alpha Protocol was so good, I didn't need reminding we're not on Alpha Protocol 5 right now :negative:
You should be thankful you didn't get to see that and that Alpha Protocol will remain a pristine and untainted memory, free from the obese and ugly stronk black female being cast as the new Michael Thorton, the micro-transactions store, always-online requirements, bluehair writing and everything else that would come with being made these days.

Technically Alpha Protocol has one of the strongest, most dominant females in (non-porn) video game history. Not sure there's much competition on *raped the main protagonist* avenue.

Infinitron with his trademark fedora, whenever someone suggests the ridiculous idea modern-day writing is pozzed.
You're just missing out on a particular cultural context which you'd understand if you had a greater interest in the humanities. Being used to online American discourse you might associate the tipping of a hat with the new atheism movement or comic book nerd types wearing fedoras in horribly failed attempts to come off as sophisticated or old fashioned. For an Israeli though the associations must be with the Haredim, who are even more chosen by the jewish god than him and that are very conservative and do none of the dirty work that they get the lesser jews to do for them. They do not serve in the army, would harass any black person off their street and are fully aware of how superior they are to the rest of them. Me not wanting faggotry in entertainment reminds him of their sentiments. They literally wear fedoras and that's why he keeps using the rating. He's calling me an ultra-orthodox jew.

I am really happy to see Alpha Protocol get so much love here. The game was very much ahead of its time regarding choice and consequences and I am yet to see any game to match in that regard. People always complained that the combat was weak and stealth & melee was OP, and it was, but nobody plays Hitman for its amazing shooting mechanics either. It's an espionage game, spying shit up should be the way to go anyway.

Tumblr still exists?
Oh yes. There is a fun narrative going on right now that it's going to be a haven for the Reddit refugees. It's also where Josh Sawyer moved his "answering questions" business after Ask Jeeve and Formspring.

Part Two:

The look back on the past 20 years of Obsidian Entertainment continues after losing one project and is followed up with one of their biggest games yet with Fallout: New Vegas. Hear stories on New Vegas, Dungeon Siege III, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and even the canceled Stormlands in part two of this multi-part series.

What a weird documentary. They all mostly talk about business and mistakes they made, while very little is said about actual games. It's like the entire video is a diary entry in Feargus' journal, with a few cameos. I want to hear more about game design rather than a video résumé.

Feargus speaking with joy how he was more involved with Dungeon Siege III than any other Obsidian title and yet going by Avellone's take, that made everyone miserable (including Ziets who seemed crestfallen that his story had to become more mundane). :)
