It's a mistake in the description. Normal (metamages etc) mages uses staves, battlemages are actually special because they don't. I've seen battle mages wielding two-handed swords, no problem.

I see. Thanks, Brother None.

I'm still early in the game, but from what I've seen staves usually have a bonus to parry, while other two-handers may actually decrease it, which sucks for a caster-type character who does not use shields. But I guess it just doesn't matter all that much on higher levels.

Figure I'd bump instead of making a new topic for a quick question: Does anyone have the Battle Magic V.1.1 mod? All the rapid share links are dead, and apparently this mod helps the magic system a fair bit.
