It would be sooo odd if features present in G I and II - ie draw-distance and sky somehow was omiited in G3.

I think it's only because it's in an incomplete state (though, with that level of detail, that may be the extent of their draw distance in that engine, who knows at this point but the devs). Oblivion doesn't even have shadows in their screens yet because Bethesda are still tweaking them (or they were).

Another thing that could explain the sky and the short draw-distance could be that it's just really foggy.
