IIRC the only way to silently kill Hubologist in NCR is super stims, barring combat/sneak shenanigans. Explosives don't work

Booze is broken even without sneak. Back when I was a wee lad, I did the Metzger fight by grabbing every drink I could get for free up until Den, then using them all on each of his guards. You're then free to start combat and shoot them, they won't aggro unless you get right next to them(RIP melee builds)
Sounds like a lot of work couldn't you have just bought and used 2 jet and 1 psycho then killed them all without breaking a sweat. Heck I remember seeing if I could do that with no armor nor weapon and zero investment in unarmed and prevailing pretty easily against his gang of guards. Was good to have a Psycho laying around in case of emergencies at low levels.

Being a slaver literally gets you almost nothing. You merely get to do some slave runs for money, and that's it.
The drawbacks are pretty bad, you'll get NCR Ranger ambushes, as they'll be out for your blood. You will also be locked out of some quests, some which are in NCR.
Certain companions won't even join you, such as Cassidy and Marcus, I think.

There most certainly is Psycho there, maybe you're right about the jet being more of an rng present.
