Itz not about Encased, itz about everything. Baldur's Gate 3 thread has thousands of pages about latest breed of dancing tranny that was added in patch which are released once every 6 months. Everything worth attention, including latest Underrail: Infusion Dev Diary has less then 2 pages of discussion

As much as the vocal paranoid schizoid minority might want to deny it, BG3 has thousands of pages because it's shaping up to be a great game, whereas Encased is mediocre and mostly unworthy of attention. If wokeshit was enough for a game to be popular, then Encased should've been doing much better since it's fully woke, complete with non-binary options in char creation and tranny prostitutes.

Game was too unfinished and unconsistent, first part was great then it falls down quickly from mysterious plot and strange land to explore, to "dude here's some posters to glue in town". Combat is far from great either , so what is there left to chill for? It's good looking i guess, that's not enough to excite us.

It's always been like that man. Lots of mouth breathers filling up AAA threads with posts, slurping whatever inXile/OE/Ubi/MS/EA excrete while most quality games get little attention. Reading your newer posts, it's clear that you've decided Encased isn't quality, which actually helps explain why it has 94 pages and not 15.

There are some exceptions of course, like Underrail, but even back in the '00s and early '10s you would see huge threads for shit games while smaller quality ones went under the radar.

I can understand being mad at it, but it isn't a new phenomena.

Not quite, which is why I stopped short of drawing the link - although I do imply it. There are gems with low page count threads that simmer over time. Then there are threads that exist solely for the purpose of someone searching "rpg codex [GAME]" and getting a hit. Those threads have little to no user discussion but lots of PR posts.

It's like pornography, people know it when they see it. To write out rules clearly delineating it is pointless.

Codex has turned itself into passive consoomers.

So I'm playing it right now, and it's hard to like; the thought of asking for a refund has crossed my mind.

I'm out of what I guess is the extended tutorial or prologue, that is I've come out of some manner of stasis.

The first thing I did was travel south to the Picnic Neutral Zone, what with it being the closest place that's not a death-sowed parking lot, and a place I had previously visited during the prologue. There, Paris Langley is the very first person I talk to.

Uh... So far I've emerged from underground, very much unseen, then promptly traveled 10km without meeting anyone, yet I'm already The One Who Wanders The Dome? How? Why? Because it's a video game, I guess, and I need to be The One and everybody needs to know about it straigth away, without the need for any fait d'armes on my part; I'm the animu protagonist with crazy colored hair, so you know I'm special.

Now, amongst other things my questlog indicates the following: "Something changed in the world, and now you are to find out what happened under the Dome, and to you, while you were in stasis." That's great, but in Picnic there's half a dozen people, and I don't have a single conversation option to ask what the fuck happened. To Old Melville, a character I had previously encountered, I can ask how his life is going, or remark that the station now reminds me of a settlement (it absolutely doesn't, but whatever), but I can't ask what the hell is going on. Same with other people in the area.

Worse, it seems my character already knows about the current state of things under the dome, someway, somehow. Behind the station, I meet this guy named Aaron Usman:

Ask him where the Phalanx gets its supplies? What the everliving fuck is the Phalanx? And why is my character talking about it with apparent familiarity?

It's as if the game skipped a whole bunch of script pages, leaving me to play with a character who knows more than I do, and certainly more than she has any means to. And I'm in the nearest populated place from the starting point, so it's not like I did something wacky, e.g. going from Klamath straigth to Navarro.
