Something about the game made me not hate it (unlike others which I don't give the same treatment to). I need to put some thought into why. I doubt it's fanboy over Iron Tower because I was expecting more from them, I was never fanboy over AoD, and yet I still managed to enjoy the game despite thIs factors.

Does anyone else feel the same way? And no, I'm not summoning the fanboys with this, I need something completely different. The best explanation I can come up with is that i see it as a 3.5-3.75/5 game compared to all of 2023 - which is why I gave it a 4/5 in GOTY vote - rounded up grade.

I suppose The Wall and BING XI LAO think themselves brilliant provocateurs who only pretend to be retarded for the lols, but the truth is, they have long ago became so proficient in this regard their act is practically indistinguishable from the real thing. They gazed into the abbyss of imbecilism so long it finally gazed back on them.

You can always go back to reddit if Codex doesn't live up to your "intellectual" standards.
Boo fucking hoo moron cry me a river.

Myself and @JarlFrank wrote by far the most intellectually stimulating and insightful posts criticizing the game and neither of us(unless he did?) did any 'kvetching' about racial undertones in the game.

Please, do some proper research next time and attempt to form intelligent debate with both myself, and Jarlfrank instead of typing nonsense fishing for upvotes. The Wall is trolling, and I respect him for that. He, however does not represent all colony ship criticism.

You're not in the quote so why are you crying for? And I don't remember saying all the criticism is invalid, far from it. It's just there are so many things to criticize (ie: skill system, itemization, writing) but things The Wall bitching about is a non issue. Still calling your own post intellectually stimulating and insightful post is quite bizzare though.

You probably took offence because I give you a single retardo rating for the post below, even though I you're not mention in the post you quoted. If you're wondering the problem I had with your post was saying ATOM was any better, while it had fundamentally shit combat and text dump. I still wouldn't call it a shit game since the dev put his soul into the game but in no way it's comparable to Colony Ship.

This is going to be harsh, but if you wanted to make more games, you should have made better games.

Atom and Underrail are slightly larger and I believe slightly smaller teams. Their games are more successful because they managed to find their own niche and actually make something players wanted. Atom made east slav fallout, then did it again. Now they're making east slav baldurs gate. Underrail made serbian tunnel simulator, and they made 2 expansions and are doing it again with a full sequel.

Oh ok nevermind then. Also I praised my own post to try and make people think I'm a better poster subconsciously so they group me with jarlfrank in their minds. I also interpreted you saying ALL colony ship criticism is invalid. Which is something fanboys of this game seem to do :).

Also to jackofshadows, yes Atom is better. Atom sold 1 million copies and Colony ship barely sold 100k. Cope about that the next time your ugly lonely ass pays for sex!!! Lmao!!!

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
ATOM is better because it actually lets you explore and experiment.

Iron Tower games have a structure too rigid to allow that.

Honestly I think Vince could keep doing what he does at a much lower budget by writing CYOA books.

I like both games but there are things that Colony Ship does better, come on. Atom combat is very basic, there's more room to experiment in CS in that regard simply because there are more options available. World building is weak, as is the writing. It just isn't as obtrusive since it doesn't take itself too seriously.

How is colony ship combat more 'tactical' then ATOM.

Yeah the strategy of focusing 1 enemy at a time is super intense. What options? The game with 4 types of guns and all 4 of them feel exactly the same? The game where every fight is in a tiny area where sniper rifles don't even matter?

Seriously I do not remotely understand the point you're trying to make here and jarlfrank and I would like you to explain it.

Colony ship has six weapon types (pistols, rifles, shotguns, SMGs, bladed and blunt weapons). All of these have different special attacks. They also have different action point requirements, ammo clip size and different effective range. I don't understand how a SMG and a pistol feel exactly the same in Colony Ship given that only one of them can do single shots. Statements like this make me wonder how on earth you completed the game. It seems to me that you like to talk shit about a game you know very little about.

Most smg's in colony ship can do single shot, some can only do bursts. What on earth are you talking about?
Also trust me completing this trash game wasn't easy, thankfully it was less then 20 hours long.

Üstad I'm not saying ATOM has great tactical combat, but colony ship is on the same level.

I know what you're saying, I'm still disagreeing. ATOM has zero combat challenge, I don't think the game claims to have tactical depth at all. Colony Ship despite it's flaws is challenging (not as much as AoD) and tactical, unless one plays it in baby mode.

I had more reloads in some of the late game ATOM encounters then Colony ship.

Colony ship has a few annoying fights, but any challenge is basically negated by upgrading your shields or hoarding energy weapon ammo for difficult fights. Colony ship fights also suffer from retarded status effect(both positive and negative) bloat which makes all fights take way longer. The extent of the tactics I used in the game was
1. targeting 1 enemy at a time
2. throwing grenades, some of which are stupidly OP(although the op ones were relatively rare).
3. occasionally using targeted shots although I found 95% of the time it was better to use burst weapons for higher damage output
4. using energy weapons which made all those stupid fights against floaters and creepers completely trivial.

Most of this can apply to atom or fallout, with the exception of the structure of the fights themselves which take place in arenas in CS.

Atom has combat in the same vein as fallout, tactics are basically limited to who you target, what weapons you use and how you approach the fight. The last part is the most important since colony ship takes a rigid approach to encounter design with a completely controlled(usually small) environment. This limits tactical depth and player creativity.

Tactics in CS is limited by the fact you cannot trigger combat when you want (unless a specific dialogue check allows that), so you are very limited in positioning your party members.

In Atom you can at least attack from afar, taking advantage of long range of rifles. Or defeat enemy piecemeal, without alerting others.

Also to respond to Tavar again.

I didn't even realize the game had special attacks(as in I was aware you could burst, but I didn't realize that was considered a 'special attack'), and I just looked at what you linked. Seriously? I'm not shitting on CS here but how is 'short burst' any different to being able to burst or use single shot in fallout or atom? What? lol

Also I just picked a random save and I have 3 smg's that have single shot.

Inventory literally full of garbage(it was usually even worse then this).

I'm trying to understand what exactly you mean when you say that "every weapon type" feels the same. Let's compare three concrete weapons to make this more clear:
  1. Bulldog II (Pistol), 4 AP, 6 shots per clip, allows these attacks: single shot, all aimed shots and "fanning attack" special shot (8 AP)
  2. Double Trouble (Shotgun), 4 AP, 2 shot per clips, allows these attacks: single shot, all aimed shots and "double shot" special shot (6 AP)
  3. Spitfire (SMG), 3 AP, 25 shots per clip, allows these attacks: "short burst" (8 AP), "focused burst" (10 AP) and "long burst" (12 AP). No aimed attacks or single shots
How do these three weapons feel "exactly the same"?

Did you never use any special attack like "cleave" during your playthrough? Did you complete quests like "First Law of Robotics" or fight Azrael, Ol Bub or the rival fraction? Did you rescue Smiles? A lot of hard fights in Colony Ship are optional, so completing it doesn't mean that you get the full picture. Also, I never said anything about "Atom" as I didn't play it. If I compare it to "Fallout", I think that combat in Colony Ship is deeper and that the game is harder in comparison.

Wow, what a brilliant, "intellectually stimulating" arguments you have in your sleeve. Gonna play that pinnacle of RPGs, Skyrim then. Anyway, I see you're taking a piss but so am I. ATOM fanboys are so fucking hopeless. They pretend the original formula was so perfect and unable to appreciate any alterations to it I gather. Cover mechanic? Same tacticool depth! More special weapon attacks than just aiming a body part? Same tacticool depth! Full party control? We've got mods anyway, doesn't matter! New approach to power armor, separation of armor DR values, introduce of a bunch of defensive devices with various effects which actually matter in combat? Just copy fallout, retards!

As for the hookers, well at least I got moneys for them, unlike your ever begging poor ass. Go and lick pussy for hours of your quite old by now, worn out skank in order to hope for some seks.

All that is meaningless fluff. Compare to jagged alliance 2 where using a sniper rifle means engaging enemies halfway across the map. There is no functional difference between using an assault rifle, smg, pistol or shotgun in Colony ship.
The only variable that matters is damage because the arena's are so small range makes no difference. I literally can't recall a single fight where range was a factor in my weapon choice. I feel if you're making this argument you're simply ignoring the lack of tactical depth because you had fun with the game. Which if you enjoyed it fair enough I'm not trying to shit on your experience.
I also say this because I switched weapons constantly, upgrading whenever I found something that did more damage. I did not notice a single difference in any of the gun types actually affecting my play style.

I never used cleave because I never used any melee weapons. I'm sure you will use this as a 'ha gotcha' moment as if using melee weapons would fundamentally change the encounter design. I generally don't use melee weapons if guns/range is available and viable. Personal preference.

I did first law of robotics, although there was a much harder robot fight at the bottom of mission control(which could be bypassed although i did it).
I did not fight Azrael since I sided with the monks
Rival faction fight(if you're referring to having to fight one of the factions in the armoury?) was not difficult.
I did rescue smiles, not particularly hard? I'm actually surprised you even mentioned that fight
I didn't fight ol 'bub, by the time I got to him I was sick of the game. I started the fight he threw some status effects on me and realized I had absolutely no motivation to kill him since the only reward was 2000 credits in a game where money is completely meaningless. I'm sure you will use this as a 'ha gotcha' moment, and I could just lie and say I killed it but that would be dishonest.

jackofshadows you're ugly as fuck, autistic and need to pay for sex. You should give me some games instead of wasting money since you probably can't get it up anyways. Also nice broken english third worlder!!! lmao!!!

Not appeasing the drooling retards expecting to black-white racial tension 700 years after was the correct choice, it'd be like expecting western steppe herders still having tensions with early european farmers who looked different from each other and their mixture makes up modern european population, since there was no racial caste like in colonial world, such looks based class and pseudo racialism didnt persist, but leave it to idiots expecting racial tension in year 2700 for no grounded reason.
It is kinda weird though. After 500 years together on the colony ship, it's weird that everyone doesn't have basically the same (pale) skin color due to genetic mixing (and low uv exposure?).

You've horribly overplayed your hand with this one. Moving goalposts by invoking JA2 doesn't help either.

You can cope about it however you need to, but to me all you are is a blind fanboy.
Colony ship is dogshit, infact it was so dogshit it will be the last rpg that ITS ever make.

Suck on that, lmao.

The best way to play Colony Ship, and the same applies to Age of Decadence, is to go 100% non-combat. The combat in both games just isn't that good.
