It's a bog standard modern sequel/reboot of a classic series that's not a brutal rape bethesda/ubisoft/firaxis style, but at the same time is completely pointless and you can't even say why they bothered.

They made a sequel because the fans demanded it and the company wants to make money, of course, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game.

Basically this is Age of Empires 2 but with AoE 3 levels of mechanical differentiation between the civs (minus the home city card deck system). If you liked those two games, you'll probably like this one.

I really don't think the distribution of active playerbase among different titles in the series supports the "fans demanded it" statement. Suddenly deciding to release what is basically a direct competition to AoE2 in heyday of its popularity was already a bizarre decision, but then they never even invested in it to give it a fighting chance and failed to amend that mistake when the release turned out far more popular than the quality of the product should warrant. I would, sort of, understand it if this was the aoe4 that was hinted at originally. But this?

Yes, fans were anxious to get a new title in the series prior to the game's announcement. The active playerbase is more a reflection of AoE2's hegemonic status as perpetual RTS juggernaut than any indication of this game's actual qualities or flaws.

But also, as a player I don't really see why I should be concerned with those metrics. I'm not a Relic stockholder. What matters to me is that I would say this is actually a fair bit better than AoE2, or at least a more interesting game, and it definitely has a "fighting chance" in that it has a healthy playerbase and more content is coming. Cheers.

Not sure what to make of this DLC. But at least they're still actively developing the game?

I mean, it worked for C&C 3 and Generals. Not sure how it'll work for a game like this though.

I have a spare key for AoE4 Sultans Ascend DLC but it's for Microsoft Store.

(with woke trash mixed in like female knights and mangudai).
WTF????
Listen to this video of DauT using Mangudais, it starts at the correct time. Don't you hear female voices in there?

And I thought female knights were already confirmed in a similar fashion; weren't they?

It's even worse, not the Mangudai, but the KHAN rofl. Absolute cancer shit lol. Besides accuracy who the fuck wants to order mongol warriors around and hear woman responding, topkek at this garof ge

Haven't you boys ever heard of Madeline Khan?

Fuck Microsoft and their language settings... I had to change the language of my entire OS just so I could play in English... Apparently having a language select in the game options is too much trouble

When I tried Greedfall I had to search the internet for a way to turn Russian off. Then it started playing in Chinese...
