Not when other studios pay more. We lost a second programmer because he was offered a much higher pay elsewhere (and that's in Ukraine). We lost two good contractors for the same reason (they built stronger portfolios and applied for better paying jobs in bigger studios).

4 people. It doesn't matter what you wish you'd have. The main problem is that we need to expand the core team and hire more contractors, so the past numbers are a poor indicator of anything.

    Incline Colony Ship RELEASE THREAD

It's not that simple or straightforward. First, there's the core team and there are contractors. Contractors were getting paid first, so in 2020, for example, we could only pay the contractors. In 2019, after paying the contractors, we only had 38k left to pay the core team, which isn't a lot...

Compared to what though? If we take AoD as a baseline of what our games sell, then Colony Ship is way ahead. It sold more in 6 months than AoD in the first year (and AoD had a strong media support and more front page exposure).

Not at all, and thank you.

Including EA. From another post: "I assume that some people look at it this way: AoD sold enough to pay for the next game (Colony Ship), if CS doesn't sell enough to pay for the next game, it must have failed. In reality AoD didn't sell all that well (which is why we didn't make AoD 2) and...

I suspect such things are frowned upon.

It won't take long for Colony Ship to reach LoG 2 sales. Interplay bet on the consoles and lost, Troika got fucked by the publishers. Had Steam been around back then, Troika would still be around and doing well.

    Definitely not.

It's paying off, it's just not generating enough to pay for a full-scale project. Two very different things. I used this example before: Legend of Grimrock 2: 2,600 reviews, 91% reviews, yet not enough to pay for LoG3. Back then, I wondered why. Now I get it. If we stay in business, we'll...

    No reason.

Any project would be a large project at this point. Either we do a sequel in 5 years or a brand new game in 6-7.

Same as before. The game is selling better than AoD, but not enough to pay for the sequel.

    That sounds pretty bad.
