    Sid Meier's Colonization

In the original DOS version, the Spanish get combat bonuses when slaughtering native villages, so it's great. You can also establish a Christian mission, THEN start slaughtering the village, and some of the desperate natives will become converts to avoid the massacre -> free workforce.

    The Codex of Roguelikes

My first victory was an Ape Assassin of Humbaba dual-wielding daggers. Apes get bonuses for not wearing armour, I found a dagger that gave extra attacks for not wearing armour, and ramped my DEX sky high to get great dodging ability to compensate for my lack of armour. High DEX also meant high...

What wargames do you play and why?

Hullo, :obviously: wargamers. I'd like to ask for your recommendations. I'm looking for a wargame to supplement a pen-and-paper RPG campaign, running large-scale wars and battles where mid-to-high level PCs can act as commanders and lead armies between bouts of smaller-scale traditional...

What wargames do you play and why?

Sounds like you're looking for squad-level tactical games, so maybe Advanced Squad Leader or Twilight 2000?

In Progress X-Piratez! Ironman! No spoilers! Oldschool X-COM Total Conversion with mutant amazon pirates. Death to the star gods!

The promise of a lot of material for pranking Dr. X sounds alluring, but someone above also noted that the stuff is apparently unifinished yet, and it will lock us out of some of the Red Mage's stuff. I would suggest picking something that doesn't lock us out of things that actually are in the game.

    Yet Another Morrowind Thread

There's also Sermon 29 in the 36 Lessons of Vivec, and the secret message hidden therein. Beware, explicit spoilers:

In Progress Lets play the best Storyfag RPG of all time: Betrayal at Krondor!

Two pieces of advice: - Go check out before going into the cave. You'll be glad you did, and IIRC you kind of NEED to before progressing, anyway. - I might be misremembering, but I seem to recall that using the cup a second time (maybe after a certain trigger, but before the end of the...

    The Codex of Roguelikes

Ragnarok / Valhalla from 1992. (Valhalla is a slightly newer version with music, possibility of making backup saves and IIRC slightly better sounds.) Viking-themed roguelike with a big (but not exclusive) emphasis on overland exploration as you collect magical weapons for the Aesir to wield on...

Don't worry. No game is worth burning out over. Just pace yourself and take your time.

    Thief fan missions and campaigns

Interesting. I always felt that deer legs (both in Thief 2 and FMs) had a higher chance of healing than other foodstuffs. Was I just imagining it, or is it perhaps a deliberate exception?

Yeah, but in the long term, it's not just about the money. IIRC (at least in normal X-Com), if a certain number of countries cuts funding, you automatically lose. And with the inherent autism of X-Piratez, who knows how much country swaying bullshit the game is going to throw at us?

Gold Box SSI's Gold Box Series Thread

I for one will certainly want to read it. Here's something you might want to investigate, seemingly a bug I've run into on a playthrough of Matrix Cubed a while ago. Early on on Venus, you can get a whole bunch of Venusian Polearms as loot from a fight. Sometime later I noticed that if I gave...

Regarding zombies (or anything else) popping back up after being knocked unconscious... Can't you just handcuff them? I know it used to be a feature in the past, and I imagine it's probably still in. The actual mechanics are a bit obscure, you'd need to look them up.
