<a href=http://rpgvault.ign.com>RPG Vault</a> posted another 5-page part of <a href=http://www.thewitcher.com>The Witcher</a> <a href=http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/523/523971p1.html>interview</a>. Take a look at some snipets:
<br>
<br>
<blockquote>Certainly there will be some extra rare items as well as items that have to be completed from several parts. A good example here is a special dwarven sword called sihil. Before you can use it, you'll have to complete some side quests in order to get all its parts, and then find a runesmith capable of re-forging them into a truly unique weapon. You will not find items falling out from opponent's bodies like in some other action RPGs, so don't expect getting a kick-ass sword after killing some giant rats. :)
<br>
...
<br>
As has already been said, the majority of quests can be completed in different ways. I'd like to stress once again that quest design is really something extremely important for us. As most of the player's decisions influence the game's ending, we have to prepare various paths and solutions for many different situations that might come up during the adventure. We want to confront players with some serious moral choices and reflect them in the actual gameplay.
<br>
...
<br>
One of the most crucial changes is abandoning the turn-based combat. Now, all the action takes place in real time (we do have an active pause option), and this definitely makes the gameplay more dynamic. Thanks to this, combat looks more spectacular and better suits the witcher's style, which is based on extraordinary speed and agility</blockquote>Love the second paragraph. It's like poetry. Shame about TB though.

I just checked their website for the first time. It looks pretty cool. If it has an interesting story (and it looks like it could be pretty cool), I might be able to overlook the action combat system. Maybe. It looks like they have some good concepts and it will be interesting to see how everything is implemented.

At least the website is not entirely flash-based like that of Bloodlines (boo!).

Having just fallen to the Dark Side and learned Flash, what's your people's beef with this?

It makes Baby Jesus cry. And it makes me repeatedly click on the 'Block Flash' button on Avant Browser.

Seriously though, i don't have a problem with Flash. I think it's fairly good and useful. I just dislike it overusage.

Flash is fine. It's how you use it that matters. I personally think that the aversion to all things Flash is ridiculous. It's like saying you hate HTML because, by some chance, you visited a Geocities website.

Well, Flash can be ok in some cases (like Witcher website) or horrible in others (like Bloodlines website).

I just like HTML better. It's generally easier to navigate (hyperlinks highlighted in blue are way better than a button hidden in the stripper's left nipple) and generally less pretentious. HTML is easier to do, loads faster for 56k users and Poles and is just generally better.

I don't mind some Flash-y stuff to jazz a site up but sites like Bloodlines and Thief3 suck - it's hard to notice when things have been updated and hard to navigate. A 'News' or 'Announcements' section on the front page should be mandatory for an official game site.

I dont like flash because it looks really goofy (especially when they do those 'still image with moving limbs and flashing lights' things), sometimes crashes me, have to navigate around with goofy shit, and then just general annoyance.

- and if you wish throw in some javascript/flash/java on top (but I would say don't)

- just using php and nothing else is not a tip D:

edited > oh and S3 looks pretty hot, even if the demo more or less said more of the same, but with some new areas, some more mercs to pick from (well the axis and allies sides merged) - and the aspect of weapon breakdown and cash collecting.

If anything the item gather at the end of the map, and the stats by the end of the map is perfect for me - as I LOVE the stats, and even if I am a packrat, I hate actually picking the stuff up myself.

The possibility for so many k3wl effex and designs seems to be too much for some people. Usability takes the second seat.
