It’s time for another update from VD entertainment that brings you the wackiest ideas from the mental wastelands. One of our guest speakers designed a system that allows you to compare and rate video games arriving to the stupidest conclusions, another speaker discovered a striking similarity between Fallout and Everquest, which led him to the very original idea to make a Fallout MMORPG! Yes, we shit you not. As Brian Fellows from Safari Planet would have said “That’s crazy!!!”

Today we bring you ideas. What ideas? The ideas! That’s right, folks, the ideas for Fallout 3, in all shapes, colors, and styles. And here they come:

I'd also like to see stuff like Halberds, Swords and Shields, Bows and Arrows, maces, pikes, flails, Panzershreks (German Anti-tank weapon from WWII), the MG-32 (German machine gun, akin to the M-60), the entire weapons list from Fallout Tactics, a Musket or other muzzle-loader....
Muskets, huh? Would I be able to join the Musketeers faction?

A new drug that could be called p-type and it would be an experimental mutation drug that can safely turn you or a person into a half mutant for a period of time but it will only have this effect if you have a specific medical specialist give you a antibody injection that will prevent you from becoming a full mutant and will allow you to turn back after a period of time of something.
I don’t know, a new type of quest could be something like you where hired for as a hit man to kill a person and bring there head back. So you eventually find the person you where told to kill but you have a choice of either kill the person and return to the man you who hired you with the head or you can talk to the person and find out that they are incredibly sorry and they where going to have some expensive plastic surgery done to alter there face but the person could not afford it. Then the person will ask if you can pay for it and you can either say yes or no. If you say no you suggest that you can go out in the wasteland and find a no good robber or a slaver and kill them then chop off there head and pay the sergeant to manipulate the robbers head to match the persons exactly. Then you can let the person go and you can go collect your reword from the man who hired you.
Able to play as new characters such as a human like mutant or a genetically engineered intelligent death-claw mixed with the DNA of an intelligent mutant and what the hell you could even add a little human DNA in there.
Maybe one or two small islands off the cost where you could either take months swimming to or take a boat or something. Along with this you could maybe go fishing.
Now this gotta be the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. What’s even funnier the guy got upset when somebody commented on some of his other ideas but missed this one, so he asked "Did you think this was such a bad idea that you didnt want to coment on it?"

fantastic 3D battle animation form 45 degree perspective.... (diablo II) maybe with some bullet time effect.....the PC can have cool evasion move like Neo.... hey a matrix 45 degree RPG..... I think that cool.....dont forget... Metal Gear Solid 45 degree RPG is also cool....
massive wars...... and the PC included as one of the army..... the feel is so....... Lord Of The Rings` wordl.... or Saving Private Ryan`s.....
I really enjoy the CTB system of Fallout Tactic, can you apply it for a massive war scenario..? with dozens of people... and tanks.... and vehicle... with some robot and air attack..... it will become very cool....
Invasion from another waste country or planet.
Why a fireman’s axe? Why not a fusion cell powered vault axe that kinda looks like a light saber (you all know from starwars) but when it pops out from you clicking the switch it comes out about a foot and has the same look as an axe but it is neon green and slices/burns through objects.
Wow, lightsaber that looks like an ax. Doesn’t it blow your mind? Now that’s what I call creativity.

If marriage is in F3 I think it should be fleshed out, maybe one good girl/guy, one inbetween, and one slut, with accompanying side quests (Dads sick must go home NOW or help the Bos, Sulik and the wife getting it on, what do I do now, etc...) with the opportunity for the wife/hubby to increase in skill as any other npc...
The wife classes would have to be balanced otherwise everybody would pick a slutty one. How about a librarian wife that gets wilder as she levels up?

oh yeah. i'd also like to see a return of the "ask about" feature from fallout 1 if its not that much of a problem.
hours i spent typing in foolish things...
me - "say 'i don't know anything about that' if you are stupid... and smell bad."
tandi - "i don't know anything about that"
me - "ahahah... smelly idiot"
tandi - "i don't know anything about that"
3 words: what an idiot!

Oh yeah, and more blood and gore. And throw rape in there too, if at all possible.
That sounds like one of Chuck Cuevas’s fucked up fans. You know, the sadist perk and all that.

Wow, that was certainly something I don't even know which one to pick as my favourite. I like the one of about the islands, lightaxe (I can't stop laughing when I try to picture this ridiculous concept) is good, Neo and Lord of the Rings are equally awesome too. Tell you what, we should have a contest and here are the rules. Design a Fallout game that would include all these ideas, and don't forget the lightaxe thingy and the air attacks. The winner's game design will be posted as a fitting conclusion to this thread http://forums.interplay.com/viewtopic.php?t=24887

For those of you who are wondering if I have anything better to do with my time, the answer is no, I obviously don’t. Duh!

The sad thing is, the musket idea is the least stupid one. A iron tube, home-made gunpowder and assorted scavenged metal bits can be worked into the setting without major...ah... issues.

And drugs that create were-mutants. Joy.

Not touching the last one though. I'm repulsed enough just reading it second hand.

can you say pipe rifle? I don't know what's worse, when someone has a really horrible idea for Fallout 3 or when it's already in Fallout 2.

Anyways, the Matrix RPG with bullet time is by far the best one there.

Some people just don't understand that when you try to make something be everything to everyone, it doesn't end up meaning much to anyone.

So VD, about the wild librarian crack--do you have any experience with that? 'Cuz I've heard those rumors too...

You know, bullet time is pretty damn close to turn-based. In fact, it would be the perfect excuse.
Maybe that's the way to market the TB system and bring it back into popular demand:
"the combat system of our new sci fi RPG Attack on the Nebuchadnezzar is bullet time" is surely easier for publishers to sell than using the words Turn Based.

Well a lot of movies do use turn-based, why else would guards attack the hero one at a time?

Why take an antibody that prevents you from turning into a "full mutant" if the suggested drug would turn you into a "half mutant"? Good idea, there...

I don’t know, a new type of quest could be something like you where hired for as a hit man to kill a person and bring there head back.

Bring someone's head back, a new type of quest??? Someone's been playing few RPGs, and they were all named Neverwinter Nights.

How about Dragons and Spells too? Let me guess, it also throws in a "mysterious ring" and the game's subtitle will be Fallout 3: The Nuclearship of the Ring?

Able to play as new characters such as a human like mutant or a genetically engineered intelligent death-claw mixed with the DNA of an intelligent mutant and what the hell you could even add a little human DNA in there.

That's probably Denver the Last Dinossaur gone bad.

Maybe one or two small islands off the cost where you could either take months swimming to or take a boat or something. Along with this you could maybe go fishing.

The Sims meets Fallout.

massive wars...... and the PC included as one of the army..... the feel is so....... Lord Of The Rings` wordl.... or Saving Private Ryan`s.....

Oh, he's one of those... :shakes head:

Tanks and air raids? Right... i suppose it could be called Fallout 3: Wasteland Generals.

Invasion from another waste country or planet.

No comments on this one. I'll just take a few minutes rolling over the carpet laughing my ass off.

Why a fireman’s axe? Why not a fusion cell powered vault axe that kinda looks like a light saber (you all know from starwars) but when it pops out from you clicking the switch it comes out about a foot and has the same look as an axe but it is neon green and slices/burns through objects.

Dude, talk about rad! This lightaxe man it could be a reward for taking back someone's head to... someone, yeah, but it'll make you go to the Dark side...

Sulik and the wife getting it on! Mahvelous. I bet Sulik's bone will help him score higher... Grampy Bone will become the Spiritual Gigolo of the Wastes.

oh yeah. i'd also like to see a return of the "ask about" feature from fallout 1 if its not that much of a problem.

You know someone has serious problems when they consider this to be fun.

Oh yeah, and more blood and gore. And throw rape in there too, if at all possible.

Wait wait - does the rape come before or after the gore? Because i'm not discriminating...

Sweet jesus, are these people for real?

Well, my first reaction when readin this thread was laughter followed by a wierd sharp pain.
But, when you see one poster suggesting so many obviously fucked up ideas, I can't but help feeling he might have done it on purpose.

I mean, I don't believe humans (Even IPLY creatures) are capable of such amazing feats of idiocy.

Behind you.
I'd also like to see stuff like Halberds,

Okay..

For halberds, there's the spear. You can thrust it. Enjoy.

Swords and Shields,

For swords, there's the ripper. Seriously, that's what a ripper is, it's a mechanical, powered sword. And shields? WTF? Where would this shit all come from?

Bows and Arrows,

You'd be surprised how many people like this one, which I think is fairly stupid. With melee, you can counter end game firearms because you're in power armor, which also gives you a bonus to Strength and melee damage. You can also use the ripper or a supersledgehammer for that extra pounding/slashing power.

Now.. Show me a fucking bow and arrow that's a match for the M72 Gauss Rifle!

That's the thing about this idea that you honestly can't refute. At some point in the game, a bow and arrow system won't cut it. So, you make a bow using character, at some point, you're going to have to ditch that skill for something else, just because it'd be stupid to have something as powerful as a Pulse Rifle or Guass Rifle that's a pull string firing mechanism.

maces, pikes, flails,

In case this numbnuts missed it, someone needs to point out to him that Fallout's melee weapons are based on either tools, or they're the ripper. Oh, and the supersledgehammer, for all intents and purposes, is a fucking mace. It's a big, heavy lump of metal on a stick. That's a mace.

Panzershreks (German Anti-tank weapon from WWII),

Something like this weapons would be nice, because it'd give a single shot weapon that would be damaging for Big Guns skill, assuming JE Sawyer is bright enough to figure out he should screw around with the skills that actually work in the game. The only gun skill I have an issue with would be Big Guns, mainly because they're either burst or area of effect, like the flamethrower. Having a big, honking sniper rifle for Big Guns would be a good fix for that.

However, the Panzershreks would be 140 years old by the time the Great War occurs, so I doubt it'd go back in to production.

the MG-32 (German machine gun, akin to the M-60)

Someone needs to tell this boy that while Fallout is set in 2200AD+, it's not our world and branched off from the 1950s.

the entire weapons list from Fallout Tactics,

How about the entire weapon list from Fallout.. You know, the only one of the series where the developers designed the weapons with the idea in mind that Fallout was not our timeline.

a Musket or other muzzle-loader....

Why? Why bother with carrying around dry powder with you when you have ammo everywhere? Like Spazmo pointed out, in terms of what's in the setting, that's the pipe rifle. There's no sense in making a muzzle loader when you have ammo around.

And this doctor's name could be BRUCE BANNER too! Think of the fun easter eggs, boys!

I don?t know, a new type of quest could be something like you where hired for as a hit man to kill a person and bring there head back.

Okay, there's no fast transportation in the wasteland, right? Even with a car, there's no roads, so we're talking cross country at it's funnest, right?

How long would it take a head to become putrid do you think? Considering we're talking about high temperatures due to the 1950s nuclear war model of the earth's temperature rising 10+ degrees.

Able to play as new characters such as a human like mutant or a genetically engineered intelligent death-claw mixed with the DNA of an intelligent mutant and what the hell you could even add a little human DNA in there.

Yeah, because we all know that people would welcome a deathclaw in to their towns without shooting them.

Maybe one or two small islands off the cost where you could either take months swimming to or take a boat or something. Along with this you could maybe go fishing.

Dear kid,

Please look up drowning in the dictionary. KTHXBYE.

fantastic 3D battle animation form 45 degree perspective.... (diablo II) maybe with some bullet time effect.....the PC can have cool evasion move like Neo.... hey a matrix 45 degree RPG..... I think that cool.....dont forget... Metal Gear Solid 45 degree RPG is also cool....

Fuck me running.

massive wars...... and the PC included as one of the army..... the feel is so....... Lord Of The Rings` wordl.... or Saving Private Ryan`s.....

Massive wars.. When the largest town in the wasteland has about 3,000 people. Yeah. That's a brilliant idea.

I really enjoy the CTB system of Fallout Tactic, can you apply it for a massive war scenario..? with dozens of people... and tanks.... and vehicle... with some robot and air attack..... it will become very cool....

Do I need to make a comment on this one? If so, here goes..

Thanks for writing the Fallout Bible, MCA. Good job on re-enforcing this kind of thinking with the whole NCR car fleet load of bullshit.

Invasion from another waste country or planet.

Okay, invasion for what? It's a wasteland. There's not much reason to take over cities and keep land when everything, everywhere is fucked up.

Oh, and as for a planetary invasion.. I really hope this kid isn't much older than 15.

Why a fireman?s axe? Why not a fusion cell powered vault axe that kinda looks like a light saber (you all know from starwars) but when it pops out from you clicking the switch it comes out about a foot and has the same look as an axe but it is neon green and slices/burns through objects.

Because we've never seen one? It's not like a bunch of people are making new, high tech weapons out there in the wasteland.

Oh yeah, and more blood and gore. And throw rape in there too, if at all possible.

Yeah, because RAPE IZ TEH KEWL.

You know, here's the sad thing.. I bet some of these ideas make it in the FO3 design.

My character will be like Garrett from thief except he's going to have a harem of 20 of those shlutty librarian wives you guys mentioned. EVERYONE PACKING CROSSBOWS BABY! :DDDD

Then we're going to ride our fleet of harleys across post apoc america, head down to florida and conquer the island of cuba. Where amazingly, like a cockroach, Mr. Castro has survived.

Design Doc for Fallout 3: Post Nuclear AWESOMENESS!!!!1!! v 0.01323

Setting: Post-Apocalypse England

Locations:

Ancient English Castle: An country estate. Levels of medieval dugeon below. Cache of medieval weaponry, armor, and torture instruments, all perfectly preserved due to finely crafted barrels and chests. A secret section of the dungeon contains scrolls and tomes which can be used to summon dragons, demons, goblins to serve as NPC's, also many arcanely enchanted items which grant +'s to stats, AC and THAC0. PC can convert this to their home base, torture and rape NPC's, etc.

Abandoned WWII Base: An English base which was mysteriously abandoned after WWII. Containing many period weapons, also a full cache of German weaponry captured from invading Axis forces. A few katantas, wakizashis, and samurai armor also available, taken from a Japanese commando patrol that invaded England ninja-style. All well preserved due to English proficiency in creating entropy-proof barrels and chests.

Isle of Man: Island of the coast of England. PC must have "Swimming" skill tagged to reach it. Full Robinson Crusoe type hut, living quarters. With a high speech skill the ancient aboriginies inhabiting this isle can be convinced to serve the PC.

Her Majesty's Adavanced Research Base: Developed after WWII. Contains many advanced plasma and fusion weapons, including the Advanced Power Axe, a labratory containing various experimental drugs, and a cryo facility containing marriagable males and females of varying sexual aptitude. Secret area includes many genetically engineered creatures, all ruled by a hideous yet intelligent deathclaw/supermutant/cockroach boss. When PC clears level, they may then create their own genetically engineered NPC's by mixing and matching DNA from every known wasteland creature.

I think I'm onto something......

Hmmm, seeing as I've worked with Librarians (female and male) for several years, I'd like to point out that they don't seem to get any more slutty as time passes or as they are promoted. Funnily enough they seem to be just as slutty as 'normal folks'. Who knew you could work in a building full of books and stay normal!!???

The auto-garage is going to be in a new location currently under development, maybe Buckingham Palace. Can't have too many ph4t goodies in one place - I gotta think about game balance, you know?

How is that?

The game starts in a village that was built by the Chosen One after he got kicked out from Arroyo after everyone got tired of listening “how I saved your stupid world” story. The village fell behind technologically, so the only weapons are sword, bows, and the likes. That sucks, and the player’s character is being told to get off his ass and find the holy Heck whatever it is. Heck represents technological knowledge the village is lacking, the origin of the word is simple. Every time the tribals were exposed to technology they displayed their awe by asking “what the heck is that?”

Before leaving, the player's character called The Randomly Picked One (TRPO) is given a choice of a thematically appropriate weapon (players who choose bows and slings should note that their skill in handling a bow equally applies to handling advanced plasma projectile weaponry later on – it’s all the same shit, you know how to pull a trigger once, you can do it everytime with anything that has one) and a choice of a significant other.

Wife should be picked with the same consideration as you pick perks and traits. The purpose of a wife is to further stimulate and motivate the development of your character, i.e a nagging wife would drive you crazy and give you berserker rage, a constantly bitching wife would help you develop mental blocks and ability to say “the right thing” in a conversation “Does this dress make me look fat? Absolutely not!”

There are numerous locations to visit. We can post 1000+ pages of the design doc, but here is a short preview of some of the key locations:

The museum
A small community that moved into a military museum and got access to all kind of technology including every fucking weapon ever produced to satisfy every fucking gun expert at the iply boards. The pre-war motto of the museum was “if it can kill, we got it”. The last exposition before the bombs fell was “Hollywood weaponry” which explains Conan’s sword, Xena’s round throwing thingy, and the entire collection of Lord of the Rings’ weapons, but doesn’t explain what the hell they are doing in a Fallout game

Vault Dweller’s resting place
That’s where the Vault Dweller died. Well, his physical body died, but the spirit lives. The spirit who insists to be called Obi One teaches player’s character about the force and gives him a perk “Bullet time” which is kinda annoying in a TB game, but looks kewl. As player’s character progresses through the game and unlocks the Circles of Zerthimon, he gains special perks called powaz and a lightweapon of his choice, but not the one that make sense what’s with laser pseudo-physics and all, but the ones that don’t, like lighthammer, lightaxe, lightbumerang, etc They are of course highly customizable in the best traditions of quality role-playing.

Special locations
These are the places like isles, mountains, deserts, etc where your character would go to relieve all the stress from fighting, sneaking, talking, and doing all those quests. These places are scattered throughout the land and have no population, no activities, and no fun. They are for those weirdoes who enjoy watching characters going back and forth, doing pixel hunting, and just staring at the monitors.

The Sekret bases
It wouldn’t be a Fallout game if it would not have all kind of secret facilities. There are all kind of places to go: old Mayan’s underground pyramids, forgotten German bases, Commie spy centres, Japanese bases, even Bin Laden’s sekret camp is there. What the hell are they doing there? Well, I’ll tell you one thing, they were not called “sekret “ for nothing. There are rumors that some of them were doing DNA experiments, and some of them may be still active. There are many interesting NPCs that could be found there including Captain America!

Robot controlled zones
These are locations controlled by robots led by their mysterious leader who was created by SkyNet in an attempt to create an uber killer also referred to as the terminator. Luckily for humans, the attempt was not successful and the SkyNet was blown to pieces in the process. Nothing is known about the machine that was created except for its name: Bender.

The landing zone
This place is critical to the plot, it’s where the invasion from Mars begins. An army of 3 eyed things with tentacles and shit lands, captures and runs some tests on the player's character that include some serious ass-probing. After that you have 150 days, 100 if you tell them too much, to find, mobilize, train, and lead an army of earthlings including humans, ghouls, super mutants, intelligent deathclaws, and robots to kick some alien ass. If your speech is very high you have dialogue options like “welcome to earth!” and “gotcha suckas!”

The showdown:
This you really have to see. 2 armies clash in the epic struggle for Earth. Thousands of characters battle on screen, which is especially fun to play in a TB mode. We held back nothing, so everything goes: tanks, artillery, air support, tactical nuclear strikes, orbital bombardments, strategic time travel, but the coolest part is all humans have bullet time perks, so the aliens can’t him them because they can like totally evade them. Imagine thousands of people are doing the bullet thing and player’s character who finally learns to fly is flying over and shooting from 2 miniguns with the kewlest particle effects you’ve ever seen.

The End

It's the last time, I could not resist :)

more titles
like champion or gigolo but alot more new ones like "one hundred man slayer", "wife beater","goul lover","pimp","junkie","clinically insane", "piro" , ect

zoo random incounter
at first glance its just an empty building but the owner will ask you to capture beasts for his zoo witch can lead to...... that if you fill all the pens with rare beasts the owner will get a animal donation of a talking monster he can't take care of "maybe it could be a talking deathclaw" and asks if you can take it off his hands

toy maker random incounter
you find a man in a lown building who keeps asking for parts so he can build a new toy. so as you travel the wastes and kill the robots they can drop a random part, give the toymaker any 5 parts and get you own custom robot npc

other weapons
crossbows ,slingshots ,giant swords (so large it takes both weapon spaces and reqires 10 str),

skill spasific armor
sneak armor ,lock smith's hat, ect

OWN A TOWN
this is my favorite idea you get to a town thats's completely empty
so you can pay your npc's to work or build things and leave them to gain skill points or abilties as you go adventuring , solve your town's problems and lead them into battle against raiders , the enclave ,ect
Love the giant sword and lock smith's hat. Very Fallouty. It's also amazing how much people like the stronghold thing from BG2, it's the 5th suggestion to put one in.
