  1. Mod News TOEE: Livonya's Mod Beta 1.0

Easy. See, if two people leave an empty room, and later on three more leave the room, five have to enter so that the room is empty again. So if you 'loose' the eqivalent of ten cups of coffee per day, you have to refill ten cups in order to stay at zero
  2. What RPG should I play next?

I guess it only works if the victim doesn't have a lot of social contacts. Otherwise you are caught at the first time you meet someone who knows the real person of your stolen identity.
  3. What RPG should I play next?

He appeared like an angel. So if you slowly start disappearing from reality, you know you read to much of it :) Sorry, formal semantics was both very interesting and a horror of mine. It surely left some marks on my soul. What exactly do you research?
  4. What RPG should I play next?

The bad thing is you can't buy another life if you don't like the current one. Wait ... maybe one can, if one really has lots of money? And even pirating a life might be possible!
  5. What RPG should I play next?

Relax. Once you find the true operators you discover the deeper meaning of this world. I don't know if it is bleak. But I knew a computing science theoretician who always smiled, and he for sure never noticed what was happening around him. So it can't be so bad
  6. Weather effects?

Battle Isle (I think BI 2 and 3) while not being RPG in strict sense, has very nice weather effects which influence the game quite a lot. You can travel over frozen rivers, but units sink if it gets warm suddenly and the ice melts. Rain causes ground to become swampy and heavy untits get...
  7. Game News APRIL FOOL: Bethesda: Obsidian To Develop Fallout Sequel

Strange. This message makes me smile :) Seriously, H-Worlds architecture isn't well suited for mutiplayer. So most likely the idea will just stay an idea. MMORPGs and MUDs are plenty, so the world doesn't need another one. But maybe my 'lets see if I can do it' habit surfaces again, and I'll...
  8. Editorial Combat In Oblivion

Maybe you should consider this. At least for a few moments you have pretty mutch control over an opponent who stopped fighting and now begs for his life. Players wil tell you that it's unrealistic if you can't force them to hand over all their stuff in exchange for health and life.
  9. Game News APRIL FOOL: Bethesda: Obsidian To Develop Fallout Sequel

I was awake till 2:45 this morning, then slept until 8:00 with some interruptions by noisy people in the flat above me and since then I try to get awake and do something useful. (13.30 was meant to be read in 24 hour notation. So its 1:30 PM) My last message might be a sign that this doesn't...
  10. Game News APRIL FOOL: Bethesda: Obsidian To Develop Fallout Sequel

*sniff* Right now that I slowly became awake (13:30 local time) the show does a break. And in 6 hours I'll be elsewhere, so I can 't even read the continuation life :(
  11. H-world discussion (SPLIT)

H-World goes open source Hi, I've decided to release H-World under the GPL (gnu public license). There is now a project at sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/h-world/ The sources in the CVS still contain the old header files with the old license info. I think they will be...
  12. PART FOUR - Rethinking Emotional Depth in MMOs

I pondered about making a peaceful game now and then. Having a family or - more general - social relations is an important factor in a peaceful game. "The Sims" show that there is a player base who like the basic idea. Yet, I didn't find a way to transform it into a game yet. It might...
  13. Classic: Battle Isle 3 (BI2220 in Europe)

There is an open source remake of BI 2/3 http://sourceforge.net/projects/asc-hq/ I currently have too little time to try it by myself, but the website says "Production/Stable". So I guess it is worth a look.
  14. RPG Design: Keeping a level ahead

Instant death should not happen in a game. It may be realistic in some situations, but it is very frustrating for the player. I don't think a game should trade fun for realism. The player should have a tiny chance to escape, given that he is equipped properly. I don't mean an automated...
  15. RPG Design: Defense

Sarvis, I know I'm way too late, but maybe this page can help you nevertheless: http://h-world.simugraph.com/pmwiki/pmw ... erInBattle :)
