Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster trilogy

Mako shit had content - it had tons of mats for crafting, points of interest, bits for other quests, the occasional firefight. It also had a different feel for driving depending on gravity. Never understood the Mako hate, I loved the damn thing personally, and it was a big part of giving me a...

Decline Enemies should react to being hit

I'm sure many of us would love to see that, but I guess there's not much return for devs to implement that. I suppose unless the selling point is something like, "no feedback in this game via numbers/abstractions, you literally see the damage you're doing."

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

I dunno, it's six and a half dozen, it depends on your focus while playing the game. If you're immersed, smelling the roses, living in the now and taking the experience as an adventure sim, then as I said, Vancian is king. But if you're at the stage where you're focused mainly on the...

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

Vancian magic is a beautiful thing from the point of view of realism and immersion, but it only really goes with proper scouting, proper intel/inspecting/conning and a proper resting system. Otherwise you might as well cut out all the faff, go more arcadey and just have most abilities...

Decline Enemies should react to being hit

I think mobs should definitely react in the sense of their bodies reacting to impacts, but the problem with signs of injury is that the amount of damage we do in games is necessarily "gamified" i.e. irl a rifle shot would likely stop someone in their tracks completely and they'd fall down, but...

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

Forgot to add to my above: another interesting aspect of the gods in Pillows is that they can be prayed to and will occasionally grant prayers. That's a hell of a lot of power ofc, but it also suggests something like being able to hive off a whole bunch of parallel subroutines that communicate...

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

The pagan world always had God with a capital G (well, certainly by about 500 BCE or so when the idea of monotheism first arose in the Scythian empire - the remnant of the Indo-European diaspora - and in the Mesopotamian and Semitic cultures that were influenced by it). The very arguments that...

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

In theory I should agree with you, but I actually found the gods being fake in these games pretty cool, not in an "Atheist" way, but rather in the way that they seem like the kinds of "ultimate superheroes at the edge of the universe" that you'd get in some of the epic crossover series in DC and...

Incline Stellar Blade - Korean mix of DMC/Nier Automata with hot model ass

I seem to recall "strengst" from a motorway or layby sign in Germany in the late 60s when I was a kid, and it always stuck in my head, but I might be confabulating so I defer if you're a German speaker :) (Checking on the web, there seem to be 3 variations - streng, strengst and strengstens.)

Incline Stellar Blade - Korean mix of DMC/Nier Automata with hot model ass

I think several people have noted how the promotion of degeneracy in games is just fine in a woke context (e.g. BG3), but when it comes tor cishet preferences it's strengst verboten.

    Baldur's Gate Baldur's Gate 3 RELEASE THREAD

I found that Astarion's actually one of the better companions as the game goes on, he just says more interesting things and interjections than most of the others most of the time, and his backstory is quite tragic really, with a weighty choice at the end of his questline. A white Wyll mod...

Fallout Fallout 3 isn’t as bad as you think...

Since I only played FO/FO2 several years after they'd been released, I was never really that caught up in the thing of those games being a golden memory from youth, enshrined in the most hallowed corner of my mind, so to me FO3 wasn't essentially all that different from the first two games, nor...
