    Vapourware Codexian Game Development Thread

It was fun last year so I made a shmup for the Bullet Hell Jam this year again. The theme was "Consequences" so I went for a loser superhero and casualties. There are 4 different final bosses and 5 endings (because during the boss battle where you proceed to save the world you might also destroy...

Whispers in the Moss - ASCII JRPG developed in QBASIC - coming May 31st

Seeing this font and this kind of UI immediately raises my interest for a game. Looks cool overall although pregen characters and "emotional plot twists" does not inspire confident that it's the kind of campaign i want to play.

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (the roguelike)

A connoisseur recommended bcrawl at one point so that's the only version I've played. I don't know what's different but quoting http://crawl.chaosforge.org/Variants :

I think the horizontal and vertical walls are perfectly fine (but maybe when playing I'd realise they're not) but judging by a Fallout screenshot you have not chosen the same second line they did which might be or not be why it feels wrong : The game still looks amazing by the way.

    RPGs with fast progression?

My first answers would be any Might & Magic (though I've not played the first one), especially 3, World of Xeen or 7 and even more their clones like Swords & Sorcery : Underworld and Legends of Amberland (probably the second one too but I've not played it yet) which play even faster. Obviously...

Incline Skill systems (you really liked)

When it comes to roguelikes I'm specially fond of the system of Caverns of Xaskazien II. There are many things to like about it including how complex it is at this point, and I've not even played for a while so there's probably a lot I've not seen, but the thing which really makes it stand out...

Jank game recommendations - Love 'em even though they suck. Weird in the good way, but you never pay full price.

This one is fun (don't get fooled by the plateforming controls it's much more of a traditional adventure game than a plateformer but overall the puzzles are quite easy so even people who hate adventure games can probably play it).

    Solo vs. Party-Based

Solo RPGs do exist but are a marginal weird thing, not a ordinary thing. I'd often rather play a solo game than a game with one character escorted by characters generated by the dev but that's a different debate. The problem is not that recruitable characters on top of the player's party...

OUTTA GAS - post-apocalyptic turn-based shooting gallery RPG

So why did I think of this? Hey, I had fun with it but that won't help you so let's go with the extensive answer. What's an RPG? You control a single character, there's no primary stat and there's no visible character sheet. Your equipment is composed of some weapon slots, one consumable slot...

Bastard Bonds - fabulous fast-paced tactical RPG with high-end pixel art

I just completed this. I wish game devs were not so stupid because I think there's a good game hidden behind this level scaled crap, that the game lets you choose between two equally shit options just makes it more stupid to me. Adding an option to play without level scaling might be easy to do...
